Help please!

OpenStudy (kkbrookly):

How do I find out if this is an identity or not?

OpenStudy (kkbrookly):

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ok well.. .let's say if we solve \(\bf sin^2(\theta)+cos^2(\theta)=1\implies sin^2(\theta)=?\)

OpenStudy (kkbrookly):

1/2[1 – cos(2x)]?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

what do you mean? if you were to solve for \(sin^2\) \(\bf sin^2(\theta)+cos^2(\theta)=1\implies sin^2(\theta)=?\)

OpenStudy (kkbrookly):

Oh okay would it just be cos^2?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ahm nope

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

notice, you have a = 1

OpenStudy (kkbrookly):

I'm really not sure. Is it equal to one?

OpenStudy (kkbrookly):

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

step 1: just multiply it out step 2: should be obvious....honestly.
