OpenStudy (olivia567):

vector i+j and -i-j are a) parallel b) scalar multiple of each other c) perpendicular d) unit vectors

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

Okay, so think of i and j as units of x and y. On a graph paper, they would essentially represent the lines that the graph paper is made of So i + j => 1x and 1y -i -j => -1x and -1y We can go ahead and plot this |dw:1429331496719:dw|

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

Quick question, can multiple letters be chosen, or can you pick only 1?

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

if a vector A=-A then they coincide with different direction in other ways they parallel the vector <-1,-1> is -<1,1>

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

@xapproachesinfinity Aren't they also scalar multiples of one another and unit vectors?

OpenStudy (hitaro9):

Or do I have some fundamental misunderstanding here

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

well if B=2A for example that also implies they are parallel but you do have a point that they scalar multiple of each other as well

OpenStudy (olivia567):

Then what will be the answer ??

OpenStudy (rational):

Can you pick more than one option ?

OpenStudy (olivia567):

No.. It is a MCQ

OpenStudy (rational):

as per definition both options "a" and "b" are correct, but sometimes people call i+j and -i-i as anti-parallel vectors. so guess i would pick option b

OpenStudy (olivia567):

Ok. Thanks..

OpenStudy (rational):
