Nnesha (nnesha):

Pythagorean theorem!

Nnesha (nnesha):

do you know the formula ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I know they formula, but get confused with 8√3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get

Nnesha (nnesha):

okay so do you know square root can cancel out by square bec square root can be written as an exponent \[\huge\rm \sqrt{x} = x^{\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }}\] so so when you take square of \[x^\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\] \[\huge\rm (x^\frac{ 1 }{ 2 })^2\] now apply exponent rule! \[\huge\rm (x^m)^n = x^{m \times n}\] multiply outside exponent by inside exponent of variable so \[(x^\frac{ 1 }{ 2 })^2 = x^{\frac{ 1 }{ 2 } \times2}\] which is equal to what ?

Nnesha (nnesha):

|dw:1429337112909:dw| square ALWAYS cancel out wth square rO_Ot!

Nnesha (nnesha):

so how would you solve 8 sqrt{3} ??

Nnesha (nnesha):

a^2 + b^2 = c^2 c i hypotenuse longest side of right triangle so take square of a and b
