does the sequence converge on diverge, if it converges, find the limit. lim n--> infinity of (-1)^(n-1) *n/ n^2+1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How to evaluate the limit, I know certain cases use l'hospital's rule and other methods for limits but this one is just less obvious on how to take the limit without a indeterminate form

OpenStudy (amistre64):

divide the top and bottom by n^2, then simplify the results if you cant recall the rule of degrees. everything with an n under it goes to 0 ... what do we have left?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

^this is actually a really great trick. Dividing by the highest degree x or n or whichever term you have. It really works in a lot of cases.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah okay I assumed that the trick with the highest degree only held when the degree was common in both the numerator and denominator
