Which of the following was not an effect of 19th century progress on the city of Manchester, England? The city was better able to prevent diseases from spreading. The population more than doubled within 30 years. Overcrowding created slums of dead and dying people. The city became a center of industrial life.

Someone please help!
well think about it; although wealth in this time period increased, only a few people had control of it; a majority were poor workers living in desperately poor conditions. Here's a link if you want to do some more reading on it: http://www.manchester2002-uk.com/history/victorian/Victorian1.html Therefore, due to the increase of people and wealth, populations did grow. However, poverty and disease were rampant in the slums, so which answer does this lead you to? @FEARLESS_JOCEY
Does this make sense? Only one of the answers really fits
So would the answer be A or C ? I'm leaning toward those two.
I'm leaning more towards A
sure
yeah it's A :) Sorry that was a kind of long read, but it did mention how Manchester was unable to stop disease for a long time due to poor sanitation in slums nice work
Thanks! Can I tag you in another question because I really need help?
