Help!!! Which subject pronoun agrees with the verb duermo?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

yo duermo tú duermes él duerme nosotros dormimos vosotros dormís ellos duermen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wouldn't it be el since duermo represents the masculine form of duerme, and subject verb agreement would recommend the masculine form of a subject.? @luckyrose98 @mathstudent55 @bellas32

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

In Spanish there is no difference between masculine and feminine in the conjugation of verbs. "I sleep" in Spanish is "yo duermo" whether the speaker is male or female. For the third person form (he, she, it in English) the same is true. It is "él duerme" or "ella duerme." The subject may be masculine (él, he) or feminine (ella, she), but notice that the form of the verb remains the same "duerme". The must be noun and adjective gender agreement, so a masculine noun takes the masculine form of an adjective, and a feminine noun takes the feminine form of an adjective, but there is no masculine/feminine agreement with verb forms.
