Part 1 of 3 of OpenStudy's FAQ :)
First, I want to start this of by thanking everyone who participated in this project. - \(\tt \color{red}{EclipsedStar}\) - \(\tt \color{orange}{sleepyjess}\) - \(\tt \color{gold}{YanaSidlinskiy}\) - and \(\tt \color{#59b600}{myself}\) Now here are some frequently asked questions we answered for everyone. If you have anymore questions just ask in the comments \(\large \color{#2db6fa}{\ddot \smile}\) \(\tt \large \color{red}{Question ~1: ~Can ~an~ account ~be ~deleted,~ or ~can~ I ~change \\ my ~username?}\) No, your account can’t be removed, because it can possibly ruin the system. Same goes for changing your username. With your account being removed, the medals you given, fans, testimonials, all of that, to other users will be deleted, and will make their SmartScore drop. There is many more reasons why this can mess up the system, but that is one, and changing your username can mess up your past tags, and may confuse users too. That’s pretty much it. \(\tt \small answered~by~@sammixboo\) \(\tt \large \color{orange}{Question ~2: What~ is~ a~ Moderator, ~and ~how \\ can~ I ~become ~one?}\) A moderator is a user on OpenStudy that moderates and makes sure to keep the site under control. Moderators protect the CoC (Code of Conduct) and TaC (Terms and Conditions) by volunteering their time to make the best experience for users on OpenStudy. You can tell if a user is a mod by looking at their purple username. Requirements are needed to be brought up to on becoming a moderator on OpenStudy. Here they are: - Be 18 and older - You have to be, and act mature - Have been on the site for a decent amount of time. (usually more than 6 months). - Be an positive and active user on the site - Having a squeaky clean abuse record. - Have good attitude with fellow users. - Having a good sense of justice. - Be an expert in a field of study. - Do a great job in the ambassador program*. *In the ambassador training period, you'll learn how the rules work on OpenStudy and you'll learn how to make the right decisions. Being an Ambassador isn't required, but it can help. You have to win the respect of this community through interaction, knowledge and the ability to interact and intervene in an appropriate manner. It is a big part based on participation, courtesy and respect. You have to be willing to make some effort to solve/prevent arguments and problems that arise, and DO NOT ask to become a moderator, as this will only decrease your chances of becoming one. Then, when the admins decide they need more moderators, you might get asked. Good luck! \(\tt \small answered~by~@EclipsedStar\) \(\tt \large \color{gold}{Question ~3: What ~is~an ~Ambassador, ~and ~how ~do ~I~ become ~one?}\) Ambassadors are a group of selected representatives of OpenStudy. They answer questions from new users, and welcome and greet them. They are the embodiment of OpenStudy's ideologies. There are requirements that must be met to qualify: - Be 13 or older - Have a form of ID - excluding a birth certificate, but like a drivers license, or anything with a picture of you, your name, and your birthday. - Have no major suspensions/warnings on your record *If you have serious offenses, an additional process may be required* - Have at least been logged onto OpenStudy for 90 days - Have read the Code of Conduct and Terms, and understand the rules There are some behaviors that Ambassadors must express: - As an Ambassador, you agree to always be kind and understanding - As an Ambassador you should let users know you appreciate them - Congratulate and reward positive behavior, and discourage negative behavior - Lead by example! - Respect the staff - never talk ill of OpenStudy - Never share personal information if shared with you A file created by e.mccormick with further details on how Ambassadors are chosen: http://goo.gl/IQ2UjL If you feel that you are capable to apply, then you may fill out the application form below. Form link: http://goo.gl/RuPMlY \(\tt \small answered~by~@EclipsedStar\) \(\tt \large \color{#59b600}{Question ~3: What ~is~considered~a~direct~answer?}\) A direct answer is anything that does not involve asker participation. This includes just saying the answer, such as “The answer is 42”. This could also be showing steps along with a final answer. The asker would most likely scroll down, take the answer, and move on to ask the same question. \(\tt \small answered~by~@sleepyjess \) \(\tt \large \color{#2db6fa}{Question ~4: Why~are~my~notifications~disappearing?}\) This is a glitch we are hoping to get fixed as soon as possible. There is a way around it, though. You can go to the ‘View All Notifications’ page, which is located here http://prntscr.com/6truvu , to see the previous notifications you got that were cleared when you viewed your other notifications. \(\tt \small answered~by~@sammixboo \) \(\tt \large \color{#872af0}{Question ~5: Can ~I~delete~sent~messages?}\) Deleting received message is possible, however deleting sent messages is not. Even if you were able to do this, deleting your sent message would disappear for you, but will still be set into the system, and be there forever. Be careful of what you send to others. \(\tt \small answered~by~@sammixboo \) \(\tt \large \color{red}{Question ~6: What ~is~ the~ Emporium?}\) The Emporium is where you can buy exclusive OpenStudy merchandise like t-shirts, stuffed owl animal toys, Volunteering Certificates, and more. It is coming out within the next couple of months, so hold on tight! \(\tt \small answered~by~@sleepyjess \) \(\tt \large \color{orange}{Question ~7: Why ~do ~some ~people~ have ~a ~diamond \\ ~shaped ~SmartScore?}\) Some people have a diamond shaped SmartScore because they are subscribers to OpenStudy. Subscription costs $10 a month. To become a subscriber, go to your settings. Then go to 'Account Settings' and set up the subscription there. Being a subscriber has a couple of perks that normal users don’t. First, they can choose their own title that appears in the study groups and on your profile. Here, nincompoop is shown with the title “Phantom Lord” http://prntscr.com/6v2zaj . The second thing is you have a diamond shaped SmartScore instead of the normal circle. Last, there are no external advertisements to be seen. \(\tt \small answered~by~@sleepyjess \) \(\tt \large \color{gold}{Question ~8: What ~is ~a ~Qualified~ Helper,~ and ~\\how~ do~ you ~become ~one?}\) QH are a small group of outstanding and dedicated helpers that have been trained to help users get fast and detailed help on their questions. Moderators and users with SmartScore 80 and above can apply to be Qualified Helpers. Non-moderator applicants must: - Have at least one title - No suspensions - Send in a ID - Sign a agreement - Go through the selection and interview process - Go through training - Commit at least 2 hours a day to OpenStudy Apply here to be a Qualified Helper: http://goo.gl/wUODVK \(\tt \small answered~by~@EclipsedStar\)

Wasn't @Compassionate assigned by Preetha to make a FAQ? :P
Good job! :P
he is gone tho
SPAM TIMEE :P
BRAVO:)
Question, I see no questions were answered by YanaSidlinskiy, how exactly did she contribute to this?
She helped come up with some questions. Sadly she had other things to deal with and didn't have time to help answer some.
Question 6, you buy stuff from the emporium using owlbucks.
Awesome FAQ. There are two "Question 3" by the way. For Question 2 You could use @Compassionate thing.
I meant question three not question two.
\(\Huge\tt\color{#2db6fa}{Questions~About~Chats:}\) \(\large\sf\color{#6aaa25}{What~are~chats?}\) Chats are an area where you can talk freely (you still have to abide by the rules) and have fun. Any off topic things (that are allowed) can go there. If you want to ask people what superpowers they want then chats are the place to go! The chats are also a great way to make new friends and know other people. \(\large\sf\color{#6aaa25}{Where~are~the~chats?}\) The chats will usually be at the bottom of the page. They look like this. http://prntscr.com/6wik4f \(\large\sf\color{#6aaa25}{How~do~I~close~a~chat?}\) You can close a chat by clicking at the yin yang symbol that is at the top of a chat. http://prntscr.com/6wiol4 \(\large\sf\color{#6aaa25}{How~do~I~open~a~new~chat?}\) You can open a new chat by studying a section. The chat for that section will pop up. If you want to open a chat that you had closed before then just click the yin yang symbol. http://prntscr.com/6wip9t It will show you a list of the chats that you have closed. http://prntscr.com/6wisnq Just click on the chat that you want to open. \(\large\sf\color{#6aaa25}{How~can~I~get~rid~of~the~chats?}\) You can get rid of a chat by not studying that section. If I wanted to get rid of the design chat I would click this. http://prntscr.com/6wiv9l You can always bring the chat up again by studying that subject. \(\large\sf\color{#6aaa25}{What~am~I~allowed~to~do~in~the~chats?}\) You can do just about anything and chat about any random things. However you still have to abide by the rules. That means no spamming and no bad words. No other chat links are allowed. No YouTube links to inappropriate things are allowed. Try not to hurt anyone's feelings and be nice. :) \(\color{blue}{Have~fun~in~the~chats!}\) \(\sf\Large\color{gold}{Made~By~ConfluxEpic}\)
