Help.. How do you solve trignometric equations where the ratio is negative. For example tan x = -sqrt(3)

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

|dw:1429601215840:dw| If \(\tan x = -\sqrt{3}\) you can be sure that x is in the second or the fourth quadrant. If tan x = -sqrt{3} x = tan^-1 (-sqrt{3}) = - tan^-1 (sqrt{3}) = - pi/3

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Do you know inverses trigonometric functions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check it counter clock wise

OpenStudy (coconutjj):

no.. we haven't done inverses yet

OpenStudy (coconutjj):

sorry for the late response
