What is the following an example of? Pisum sativum a)binomial nomenclature b) the results from using a molecular clock c) a taxon d) a branch of phylogeny
what do you think it is?
@Beautykillzz
well, a Pisum sativum is a garden pea. knowing that, we can eliminate B because it doesnt have anything really to do with this. and a branch of phylogeny isnt what we are looking for either, because it says nothing of a phylogenetic tree. a taxon "In biology, a taxon (plural taxa; back-formation from taxonomy) is a group of one or more populations of an organism or organisms seen by taxonomists to form a unit". and binomial nomenclature is "is a formal system of naming species of living things by giving each a name composed of two parts, both of which use Latin grammatical forms, although they can be based on words from other languages."
since it is giving a name for "garden pea" in a different language, we can tell that "Pisum Sativum" is the binomial nomenclature of it. "pisum" meaning "pea" and "sativum" meaning "garden"! hope that helped! :)
