I have a DBA with my teacher later and I need a guide or quick explanation of - Ud. command forms - tu commands - formal commands - informal commands (tu) -irregular commands (tu) - first person commands nosotros
@Alfonso-O,
@robtobey
Hello there! Sorry I didn't see this before... I hope your DBA went well! May God bless
I actually was able to move it to today at 3 that way I could get two done at the same time =)
Oh, probably I'm late again, am I...? :) Well, here's a summary about COMMANDS for USTED (1) and USTEDES (2): 1. For USTED ([abbreviated form] = *ud.*): For -AR verbs you take the -AR off and replace it with -e. Example: *respirAR* --> *respire* For both -IR and -ER verbs you take those last two off and replace them with -a. Examples: *abrIR* --> *abra* *comER* --> *coma* === 2. For USTEDES ([abbreviated form] = *uds.*): You do the same thing but you add an -n after the -a or -e. Examples: *respiren* *abran* *coman* === Note: I'd say "Ud. command forms" and "formal commands" (from your list above) are actually the same thing. I hope this helps!
And here's a short summary for "tú commands" and "informal commands (tú)" -- these two items are also from your list above, but again they refer to the same thing. -AR verbs: --> (e.g.) cantAR [-] -AR [+] -A = cantA -ER verbs: --> (e.g.) beber [-] -ER [+] -E = bebE -IR verbs: --> (e.g.) escribir [-] -IR [+] -E = escribE I hope that summary is easy to understand... So, for example: with -AR verbs, you take -AR off and replace it with -A. (If you say *canta* you're giving somebody [like a friend] this command: "sing") === So, let's check you got it: what's the *tú* command for *respirAR* (= "to breathe")...? Yes, ... (Just think for a moment...) It's.... *respirA* ! I hope this helps! Blessings
Are you a visual learner...? If so, have a look at the image and think: what would the health professional say to the girl if he wants her to breathe...? :)
Almost done! Now *irregular commands (tú)*: these do not follow the rules I gave above... So they need to be learnt by heart! :) Here are some important ones: *decir* [= "to say"] --> DI *hacer* [= "to do"] --> HAZ *ir* [= "to go"] --> VE *poner* [= "to put"] --> PON *salir* [= "to leave"] --> SAL *SER* [= "to be"] --> SÉ *TENER* [= "to have"] --> TEN *VENIR* [= "to come"] --> VEN
And finally "first person commands *nosotros*": This is for giving commands to *nosotros* (i.e. to "us" ["we"]), which in English is "let's" + verb. In fact, for these *nosotros* commands you use the *nosotros* form of the present subjunctive. Remember how that works? Generally it's: cantAR [-] -AR [+] -EMOS = cantEMOS bebER [-] -ER [+] -AMOS = bebAMOS escribIR [-] -IR [+] -AMOS = escribAMOS ==== So... Just checking you got it again: what's the *nosotros* command for *respirAR*. It's... *respirEMOS* (= "let's breathe"), isn't it? You may want to check verbs using, for example: http://www.spanishdict.com/conjugate/respirar And full explanations here: http://studyspanish.com/lessons/formcomm.htm ==== Well, that was good teaching practise for me! :) Hope this helps! Blessings
YOU. ARE. AMAZING!!! thank you so much I'm going to coy and paste this and print it out as a guide to go by =)
