The table and the graph below each show a different relationship between the same two variables, x and y: http://learn.flvs.net/webdav/assessment_images/educator_mjmath2_v14/04_11_a_29.jpg How much more would the value of y be on the graph than its value in the table when x = 12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i at first did the chart and got that the proportion was 30. then i did 12*30=360. i then did the graph and the proportion there was 55. i then did 12*55=770.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the answers are... 150 300 450 600 so i am doing something wrong

@mmmmmmmmmm123 @HazelLuv99 help please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you knoow where to start? @nerd_3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i at first did the chart and got that the proportion was 30. then i did 12*30=360. i then did the graph and the proportion there was 55. i then did 12*55=770. thats what i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the answers are... 150 300 450 600 so i am doing something wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well i had this problem on a quiz haha i forgot wha i did exacally but i can solve it. so where you start is you find what the table will equal at 12 and thats 360 so you got that right by multiplying 5 times 30 and getting 150, then you added 150 to 210. am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after that yo will want to find out what the graph will equal so you would want to 8 from 12 and you would get 4. If you see the graph goes up by 2s so you need to see how much it goes up in 2 times and split that in half. so you find that it goes up 110 in 2 times so you split that in half and get 55. Are you with me?@nerd_3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nerd_3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then you will multiply 55 (how many times it goes up once) by 4 (how many times you will get to be to 12) When you multiply that you will get 220. So your chart equals 360 and your graph equals 220. If you subtract both of those you get 120. so that would be your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry @Hannah_Waller my parents wanted me! i am so sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha no problem The answer i got didnt match up so i dnt know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats fine thanks anyways

12 * 55=660*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

math not my deal and i cant even open the link...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then what do i do?? whats the formula, answer, or even how the heck do you do this??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

school computer wont allow me to open that link

i dont know what to do them :| i am screwed

A table with two columns and 5 rows is shown. The column head for the left column is x, and the column head for the right column is y. The row entries in the table are 4,120 and 5,150 and 6,180 and 7,210. On the right of this table is a graph. The x axis values are from 0 to 10 in increments of 2 for each grid line. The y axis values on the graph are from 0 to 550 in increments of 110 for each grid line. A line passing through the ordered pairs 2, 110 and 4, 220 and 6, 330 and 8, 440 is drawn.

there i hope that tthat helps?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I am trying to understand what was written because I can't see the link...give me a sec

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

ok...for the columns find the slope (150 - 120) / (5 - 4) = 30/1.... now use y = mx + b slope(m) = 30 use either point and sub to find b....I am using (4,120) 120 = 30(4) + b 120 = 120 + b 0 = b so your equation for the columns is y = 30x...and when x = 12, y = 30*12 = 360 ----------------- for the graph, basically do the same thing find the slope (220 - 110) / (4 - 2) 110/2 = 55...so the slope here is 55 now use y = mx + b slope(m) = 55 use a set of points...I am using (2,110) y = mx + b 110 = 55(2) + b 110 = 110 + b 0 = b so this equation is y = 55x and when x = 12, y = 55*12 = 660 so y ob the graph would be 660 and on the table would be 360 with a difference of 300

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

questions ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry went to dinner thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dan815

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that it is 300 . Am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 60
