How and why are organisms in the plant kingdom divided into different phyla?

Magnoliophyta Division: All "blooming" plants. These plants have leaves, stems, and roots. In the wake of blossoming, they shape natural products with seeds. Incorporates most harvests, trees, bushes, grasses, greenhouse plants, and weeds. Coniferophyta Divsion: Plants that bear cones. Incorporates: Pine Trees and Cedars. Pteridophyta Division: Plants that have roots and stems, however don't have blossoms or seeds. Rather, they spread with spores. Incorporates Ferns. Bryophyta Division: Plants with little leaves and stems, with no roots and no blooms. Normally develop low to the ground. Incorporates: Mosses. Lycopodiophyta Division: Small plants with green, expanded stems, scale-like leaves, and no blooms. Generally develop low to the ground. Incorporates: Club Mosses, Quillworts, and Spikemosses.
