OpenStudy (sierra_grey):

How many syllables are in a pentameter? i got 4 but, my options are 2, 5, 10, and 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10

OpenStudy (sierra_grey):

Can you explain how it is 5 and how it is 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pen-ta-met-er

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that make sence Sierra?

OpenStudy (sierra_grey):

well since it says How many syllables are IN a pentameter? instead of How many syllables are in pentameter? so is it 10- because pentameter means "a line of verse consisting of five metrical feet"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Shakespeare's sonnets are written predominantly in a meter called iambic pentameter, a rhyme scheme in which each sonnet line consists of ten syllables. The syllables are divided into five pairs called iambs or iambic feet. So yeah you'd be right I guess. I didn't read the question at first I guess!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when your done here, do you mind helping me?

OpenStudy (sierra_grey):

Yeah, i didn't read the question well at first either x) Thank you!
