(b) Mrs. Ferguson wants to know the area of the bathroom. The hotel website stated that the area of the bathroom is 30% of the hotel room. Mrs. Ferguson says, “Since this means the dimensions of the bathroom are also 30% of the dimensions of the hotel room, I can find the area of the bathroom by finding 30% of the length and 30% of the width of the room and multiplying these numbers.” Is Mrs. Ferguson correct?

been stuck for a while ._.

OpenStudy (dan815):

ah okay lets see what claim she is making here

OpenStudy (dan815):

You know that Area = Length*width Lets suppose She thinks that to get 30% of the area, we need to multiply 30% of the width by 30% of the length. but 30% of Length = 3/10*length 30%of width = 3/10 * width 3/10 length * 3/10 * width = 9/100 * length * width but we know that length*width is the area so = 9/100 * Area =9% of the total area

OpenStudy (dan815):

i got 3/10 by doing 30% = 30/100 = 3/10

Wow, thank you so much! :}}
