OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 5 divided by 6 is 0.83 and 1 divided by 3 is 0.33 so if you subtract those from each other you get 0.5 and you change that back into a fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you change 0.5 into a fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's how to convert 0.5 to a fraction... There is not much that can be done to figure out how to write 0.5 as a fraction, except to literally use what the decimal portion of your number, the .5, means. Since there are 1 digits in 5, the very last digit is the "10th" decimal place. So we can just say that .5 is the same as 5/10. The fraction is not reduced to lowest terms. We can reduce this fraction to lowest terms by dividing both the numerator and denominator by 5. Why divide by 5? 5 is the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) or Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of the numbers 5 and 10. So, this fraction reduced to lowest terms is So your final answer is: 0.5 can be written as the fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.5 is 1/2 as fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hannah_Waller
