how to solve 0 = sin (2x - 3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have to use a calculator? if so, how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

arcsin(0) = 2x-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok... and then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

( arcsin (0) + 3 )/2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mhm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then what is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im sorry Im having a brain block..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because usually, you'd only have x in the sin's bracket. but now you have an expression inside instead - so how would I simplify/solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin and arcsin find different things, look at your notes if you dont remember what arcsin means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one returns an angle and the other a side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@optiquest ok, I don't actually have notes, but how would I go about Google searching info on arcsin and my original question? (aka what keywords/topic is this? ) thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look up inverse trigonometric functions. if you watch this it would help i think https://www.khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry/unit-circle-trig-func/inverse_trig_functions/v/inverse-trig-functions-arcsin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I get that; I get the questions where the x in sin (x) is a number and not an expression. But I don't know how to solve my original question...would you be able to solve it with steps? thank you!!

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

|dw:1429788036682:dw| 2x - 3 = n π SO x = 3/2 + π n/2 where n is any integer..........
