On his way to work, a man notices that 9 of the 16 traffic lights are green. Is there statistical significance to say that these traffic lights are programmed to allow ease of travel? Yes, because the man encountered a high number of green traffic lights. No, because the man didn't encounter enough traffic lights on this trip for a valid sample size. Yes, because the results are unlikely to occur by chance. No, because the results are likely to occur by chance.

What do you think it is. Did this happen by chance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure but I know that's about half so maybe it was programmed that way

OpenStudy (16shuston):

I would say that there really aren't enough sample sizes since he only went one way. He went to work and not back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a good way of looking at it. I'm horrible with statistics though.

Its fine. I can help with statistics anytime.
