Which of the following is not an acceptable way to correct a run-on sentence? a. use a semicolon, but no conjuction b. use a comma, but no conjuction c. use a comma with a conjuction d. seperate it into two sentences

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Well let's use this sentence as an example: I have a friend named Kyan she is a Doodle.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

So let's try the first option: I have a friend named Kyan; she is a Doodle. Looks pretty fine right? No errors or anything.

Looks fine

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Yeah, but look when I try B. I have a friend named Kyan, she is a Doodle. It may look fine, but commas are only used when the clauses can't stand alone otherwise like if the sentence was I have a friend named Kyan, and she is a Doodle. It would work like this because they can't be sentences separately. However, without the conjunction like in the first sentence, the comma isn't the right type of punctuation. Lol yea so the answer is b

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Indeed
