OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

well do you know how to find the area of a trapezoid? you could use that formula to solve for the height (h)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No i dont, I think i do a=l*w

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But we dont know the length

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

no... that'd be for a square or rectangle.. the area for a trapezoid is \[A=\frac{ a+b }{ 2 }h\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm whats the base for this one then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

80?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

yea... a+b=80 in this case...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

pooja195 (pooja195):

I think you guys mixed up the formulas....

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

so you have \[108=\frac{ 80 }{ 2 }h\]

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

how so?

pooja195 (pooja195):

\[h=2\frac{ A }{ a+b }\]

pooja195 (pooja195):

That formula you gave is for Area not height

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

I know... I was just going to solve the formula for height...

pooja195 (pooja195):

\[h=2\frac{ 180 }{ 8+10 }\]

pooja195 (pooja195):

The area formula was unecessary it would confuse them :)

pooja195 (pooja195):

@CREEPYMLPMASTER can you solve that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10?

pooja195 (pooja195):

u calculated wrong
