OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Can someone help me in Geometry?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

The most efficient way, in my opinion, is to post the question, and if no one answers, then you can tag people. This will give you a better chance to get answers faster. People may come and go depending on whether they like the question or not.

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Alright :)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Can you start by completing the list of the coordinates of the points, in order ABCDEFA (i.e. repeat the first point at the end), like: P X Y A -2 6 B -5 2 C -2 -3 .... A .... You will need all of those numbers.

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

A = (-2, 6) B = (-5, 2) C = (-2, -3) D = (4, -3) E = (5, 3) F = (1, 3) A = (-2, 6)

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Is that correct?

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

@mathmate

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

To find the area, do I have to just multiply all of the sides together?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Almost, but it's more complicated than that. But that's a different way that I will show you at the end. To start and do it the "normal" way, we subdivide the figure into small areas, - triangle ABC (base AC, height (-2-(-5))=3) - triangle ACF - trapezoid CDEF (top=4, base = 6, height = 6) Do you know how the find the area of triangles and trapezoids?

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Im a little confused...

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Take out a piece of paper, and draw a sketch to see how the three figures can be combined to make the original figure. Pencil and paper are the oldest tools, but still by far the best!

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

What do I have to graph? Im not so sure what I have to get...

OpenStudy (mathmate):

|dw:1430140863715:dw| You will need to find the area of each figure (2 triangles and a trapezoid) and add up the areas to get your answer.
