I just wanna know : Explain what it means to be a Tory or a Patriot in Georgia during the 1750s
Okay I see. I'm not sure why it's asking you about Tory's and Patriots in the 1750's though, when really they majorly came into play during the American Revolution. But in the 1750s, the French and Indian war was in the colonies. A patriot and a Tory were basically thought as the same thing. If you were a patriot you fought for/ supported your king and the British (which is also a Tory). Yet as the war waged on, people began to grow discontented with the British authority over their lives, so the definitions of Patriot and Tory changed drastically. A patriot was someone who opposed British Rule, wanting liberty and natural free rights for the colonies as a separate country. Whereas, a Tory (loyalist), was someone who kept their loyalty to the crown; stating that a king was the absolute sovereign.
The last paragraph can be mainly stamped upon the American Revolution.
