Lincoln’s goals for Reconstruction, as discussed in his second inaugural address, were to bring the country together but to punish the South. unite the country by showing kindness toward the South. keep the North and the South separate, to maintain peace. allow the South to remain separate but also punish it.

Lincoln shows that he will go to whatever lengths necessary in order to secure freedom for blacks. He acknowledges the fact that it will be a difficult fight, and that much blood will be spilt in the process but does not specifically mention the reconstruction of the Union that will have to occur if freedom is achieved. He would have to deal with issues such as integrating blacks into society after the war, and also what to do with the sudden increase in unemployment. To a certain extent, he alludes to the fact that he will harbor "malice toward none" and this shows that he will be forgiving towards the South in the interest of preserving the Union. this might help u im not sure
