OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope :)

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

How many flowers are there? More than one right? What's the plural verb for flowers? Smell or smells?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a i right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Not quite. Parsley is singular, not plural. Therefore, the verb would be is rather than are.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Listen I know the mistake you're making. So I'm going to just say that you must pick a verb that agrees with the subject in substitute of what agrees with the last noun in the sentence before the verb takes place. Let's look at A: The flowers in the vase smells funny. There's only one vase, so the verb is smells, right? Well no. The vase isn't the subject. The flowers are. Make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

How not?

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

You there, sport?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Ok, so how does my explanation not make sense? The subject is the noun in which things are happening to it. In A's case, it's flowers.
