Mammals have few babies, which are likely to live. Simpler animals like insects and fish have many offspring, a high percentage of which die. In what way would this be beneficial for insects and fish? A. Carrying live young and giving parental care takes a huge investment of time and energy B. There are so many insects and fish that they need to have more die or the world would be overrun with them C. Most of these species eat their young, so they are still benefiting from the deaths. D. None of the above are true. It is not a good adaptation.

Answer = C.
First, don't EVER post a question without SOMETHING of your own showing. Second, showing your own work is MUCH more effective than tagging the world. Third, think through and comment on each item. A. Carrying live young and giving parental care takes a huge investment of time and energy. That's true, but has nothing to do with the question asked. B. There are so many insects and fish that they need to have more die or the world would be overrun with them. "they need"? How does this benefit the insects? Silly. This may be what the exam thinks is the correct answer, but it is horribly worded if this is so. C. Most of these species eat their young, so they are still benefiting from the deaths. Well, that's kind of idiotic. D. None of the above are true. It is not a good adaptation. It's a survival technique that's been around a lot longer than mammals. For me, this is an awful question.
