HELP PLEASE!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve the following equation by transforming it into a perfect square trinomial. x^2 – 14x = 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please explain to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is half of 14?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

solving it regularly would be easier just subtract 15 from both sides and factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so start with \[(x-7)^2=-15+\] after the plus sign, put \(7^2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(x-7)^2=15+49\\ (x-7)^2=64\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then take the square root don't forget the \(\pm\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should be looking at two equations \[x-7=8\] or \[x-7=-8\] solve those in one step
