PART B!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@133 ??

OpenStudy (133):

Your gonna start on 5 for the y-axis and draw a straight line

OpenStudy (133):

And y=?x+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part A is correct, as for Part B the y-intercept is the y-coordinate of the point that is on the y-axis. The formula for slope is change in y-coordinates over change in x-coordinates: \[y _{2}-y _{1}/x _{2}-x _{1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...For the first question I mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont really understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok well, let’s start with the y-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i dont really understand graphs and this kinda stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok, well one second then...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The y-intercept is the y-coordinate of the point that is on the y-axis (the vertical line that is labeled as “Number of ice creams sold”). The point that is on this axis has coordinates of (0,5), so the y-coordinate (and y-intercept) is 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...Now as for slope...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The formula for slope is: y2−y1/x2−x1, where y2 is the y-coordinate of the second point chosen, y1 is the y-coordinate of the first point, x2 is the coordinate of the second point, and x1 is the coordinate of the first point. To use this, first choose any two points on the graph, I will choose (0,5) and (10,15): Plug that into the formula: 15-5/10-0 =10/10 =1 So, the slope is 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...Lastly, for the line best fit:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Soo y=1x+5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but you also need to explain why your chosen line is best fit...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

according to the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the best and most accurate set of data would be a linear set of data (set of data with a consistent, continuous pattern that goes in a straight line). Two examples of this are the points (0,5) and (10,15), which therefore also explains why your answer, y=1x+5 is correct .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...also keep in mind that you don’t have to say “1x”, you could also just say “x” which would be the simplified equation. Happy studying! :)

how about the second one i asked?
