Why did President Nixon authorize the bombing of Cambodia and Laos? Nixon wanted to provoke the North Vietnamese to move away from their defenses. The North Vietnamese were using these countries as supply lines. Cambodia and Laos were actively selling weapons to the North Vietnamese army. The military wanted to gain control over the countries' natural resources.
try the second one
I agree with ryanmorgan284's answer, too. Laos was too weak to fend off incursions by the North Vietnamese army in using areas of the nation as supply routes to South Vietnam and Cambodia was technically neutral but that didn't keep the North Vietnamese from setting up camps along border positions facing South Vietnam. Though the US hoped to that Cambodia would exercise some political control to force North Vietnam to quit camping in their backyard, a later attack by North Vietnam against South Vietnam infuriated Nixon (because he felt Hanoi had betrayed an earlier agreement following another bombing campaign) who then made the decision to bomb North Vietnamese strongholds there.
