Y=MX+B We have our m and y&x so what does the equation look like?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-8=0(6)+b
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
good so you should find that b = -8
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
m = 0 is the slope of any flat horizontal line
b = -8
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
y = mx+b
y = 0*x + (-8)
y = 0x - 8
y = 0 - 8
y = -8 is the equation of the line that goes through (6,-8) and is a horizontal flat line with slope 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):
but i thought the x was the horizontal line
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
if you had x = -8, then that is a vertical line that cuts through -8 on the x axis
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
y = -8 is the line with ALL points on it having a y coordinate of -8
the x coordinate doesn't matter
OpenStudy (anonymous):
since b is the y intercept it would be y?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
what do you mean?

b= the y-intercept so is that why it would be y=-8
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
yes because the y-intercept is the same as every other y coordinate of the points on this line
