OpenStudy (anonymous):
Are you capable is a better way to say that
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, this is really just the reverse (x+?)(x-?) Don't let the ^6 and ^3 throw you off
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so what do I do now
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what factors of -8 add up to 7
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-1,8 -8,1 -4,2 2,-4 ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-1,8

correct so now you put those into your factored equation
OpenStudy (anonymous):
done. next?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so what do you have
OpenStudy (anonymous):
(x^3-1) (x^2+8)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now if you multiply that out what do you get

x^6+8x^3-1x^2-8
OpenStudy (anonymous):
correct. your error is that you are multiplying your exponents. when an exponent is multiplied by an exponent you add them. you only multiply when an exponent is raised to a power
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ohhh yea
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so lets pretend these are exponents, (3)(3) would equal 6 (3)^3 would equal 9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
|dw:1430603617356:dw| thats the only time you multiply
