the substitution method would be the best way to solve this...in my opinion x - 2y = 10 x = 2y + 10 so we know that x = 2y + 10.....so sub in 2y + 10 for x back into the 1st equation 5x + 4y = 8 5(2y + 10) + 4y = 8 10y + 50 + 4y = 8 14y = 8 - 50 14y = - 42 y = -42/14 y = -3 now sub -3 in for y in either equation to find x x - 2y = 10 x - 2(-3) = 10 x + 6 = 10 x = 10 - 6 x = 4 check... 5x + 4y = 8 5(4) + 4(-3) = 8 20 - 12 = 8 8 = 8 (correct) so x = 4 and y = -3......or (4,-3) questions ?

thank u sooo much
