Which transformations produce similar but not congruent figures? Choose all answers that are correct A. Trapezoid MNOP is dilated by a scale factor of and then rotated 90° counterclockwise to form trapezoid MꞌꞌNꞌꞌOꞌꞌPꞌꞌ B. Trapezoid MNOP is translated 7 units right and then dilated by a scale factor of 5 to form trapezoid MꞌꞌNꞌꞌOꞌꞌPꞌꞌ C. Trapezoid MNOP is rotated 180° clockwise and then reflected across the y-axis to form trapezoid MꞌꞌNꞌꞌOꞌꞌPꞌꞌ D. Trapezoid MNOP is dilated by a scale factor of 18 and reflected across the x-axis to form trapezoid MꞌꞌNꞌꞌOꞌꞌPꞌꞌ.

which transformation causes a change in size?

This may help you, the following transformations are as follow: |dw:1430787853793:dw| |dw:1430787949297:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure. none of this makes sense

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

hint: dilation increases or decreases the size of an object by a scale factor

Notice the shapes all stay the same, but for rotation it just moved around a point (sorry for the horrible drawing) and reflection is like looking at a mirror.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you should be able to do it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on im reading all of this stuff you put up real quick

Look at the keywords in your problem `produce similar but not congruent figures`

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still dont get it. I was shifted in grades quickly. a couples months ago, I started pre-al, now im in algreba, and none of this makes any sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this wasn't worth paying for owlbucks

OpenStudy (dan815):

Hey i am here to help :)

OpenStudy (dan815):

First start with the definitions of similar and congruent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey! i thought batman was the qualified helper lol

OpenStudy (dan815):

he is qualified to help :> but he is not one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. he just didnt help me that much

First what you should know is two figures are said to be congruent, if all their sides and angles are equal. But they can be placed in space in different ways. For example take a square with sides of size 2 cm, all the other squares in the world with side of size 2cm are congruent to it, but they wont be placed in the world the same way liike |dw:1430789876424:dw|
