what is 6 1/7 as an improper fraction?

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

43?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the answer i got.........D

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

how? can you pls explain to meh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first convert 6 1/7 to improper fraction which is 43/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then make the letter c the subject of the formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so.....it will be c = 43/7 x 3.....because you have to move the 3 in order to make c the subject

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

\(6\dfrac{1}{7} = 6 + \dfrac{1}{7}\) \(3\cdot\left(6 + \dfrac{1}{7}\right) = 18 + \dfrac{3}{7} = 18\dfrac{3}{7}\) Why do we need the 43?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also there is a rule in math that in equations if a number moves from one side of the equal sign to another, the sign the changes ....so the division sign attached to the 3 will change to a multiplication sign

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

wow... i dont understand any of this :(

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

?? Equal Sign?
