Yes?

Multiply and express the product in simplest form. \[\frac{4x~+~4}{x^2~-~1} \times \frac{(x~+~2)(x~-~1)}{x~+~1}\] I need help with the factoring. >_< I don't even know where to begin.

OpenStudy (dan815):

okay start with the first expression (4x+4) is there a common factor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um, 2?

OpenStudy (dan815):

okay lol 2(2x+2) right

OpenStudy (dan815):

is there anything else common?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope.

OpenStudy (dan815):

how about factoring 2 again 2*2(x+1)=4(x+1)

OpenStudy (dan815):

we could have factored 4 straight away aswell 4x+4=4*(x+1)
