What unresolved issue from WWI led to WWII?
There were a few, but one of these was the treatment of Germany after the war. Germany was essentially forced to admit guilt for the ENTIRE war and pay heavy reparations to the Allied powers that won. President Woodrow Wilson wanted Europe to go a little easy on Germany without so many severe punishments, but the European powers decided to go down the revenge route. This sowed the seeds of what would lead into WW2 allowing demagogues like Hitler to claim that they would restore Germany's pride after such a humiliating defeat.
Although since all of the factors that led to World War II are interrelated, one could argue that the political problems caused the social unrest and the economic difficulties. Had Germany not been subject to a treaty it considered punitive by a set of powers determined to wield its political might in harsh ways, the country would not have been forced into the measures that led its currency to become wildly inflated and would not have felt the need to over compensate for its position by developing a disciplined, efficient fighting military.
