An equation is shown below: 3(2x – 7) = 3 Part A: How many solutions does this equation have? Part B: What are the solutions to this equation? Show your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first divide both sides by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3(2x-7)/3=

sammixboo (sammixboo):

No you first want to simplify 3(2x – 7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already know x= 4 im just having trouble finding out how many solutions it has and what they are

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Well, if you found 1 solution, it has 1 solution :P

sammixboo (sammixboo):

If any number works for x it has infinite solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not infinite not all number work

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Ok, well if you got an answer this leaves you with how many solutions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure. When I solve whats in the parenthesis I get 1 and one times 3 is 3. Then it would be 3= 3

sammixboo (sammixboo):

x does equal 4, plug it in you should get 3 = 3, so you got one solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3=3 wouldn't be infinite ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does the question mean when it says what are the solutions ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sammixboo You there ?

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Your main choices of solutions is none, one, or infinite. Infinite means no end

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the solutions would just be x=4 ?

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Yes
