anytime there's a negative inside of a sqrt sign, you can always pull it out as imaginary letter "i"

You can seperate/factor the argument of each root into a product. For example you can write -12 as 3*4*-1 Since you know the square root of -1 is j, and the square root of 4 is 2, you can pull those out of the expression, leaving the 3 under the radical. So after pulling these out you get \[2* j * \sqrt{3}\]
