MEDALS MEDALS MEDALS MEDALS HELP PLEASE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Chad wants to buy some books over the Internet. Each book costs $10.01 and has a shipping cost of $9.96 per order. If Chad wants to spend no more than $50 for his books, which inequality shows the maximum number of books, p, that he can buy? 9.96p − 10.01p ≤ 50, so p ≤ 1 9.96p + 10.01p ≤ 50, so p ≤ 2 9.96 − 10.01p ≤ 50, so p ≤ 3 9.96 + 10.01p ≤ 50, so p ≤ 4 i got b but it was wrong can you be please walk through on what i did wrong and help me find the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are two costs you need to account for. The cost of the book, which changes depending on how many books you buy, and the shipping cost, which stays the same no matter how many books are bought. The cost of the books is equal to the cost per book ($10.01) times the number of books bought. The shipping cost is always $9.96 So your equation for the total cost is going to be 10.01p + 9.96 And you just solve for p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me walk through the problems i have 9 more questions i just need help to know what i did wrong and how to get the right answer please ill do anything i need help please @LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aprill115

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, I had to run to class. Still need help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but with a different question @LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kim surveyed 80 students at her school and found that 0.65 of the students she surveyed said their favorite class is math. Another 15% of the students she surveyed reported that their favorite class is science. How many more students in the survey prefer math over science? 12 15 28 40 i got A the first time but its wrong can you tell me what i did wrong and how i can get the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is D. I think your error was misreading the problem. 65% of students chose math and 15% chose science. I believe you calculated it as 65% math and 80% science

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks can you help me with a few more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh how did you get the answer to the last question @LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since 65% chose math you take 80*0.65 to get 52 students 15% chose science, so 80*0.15 for 12 students 52-12 is 40 students more for math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok i get tht ok hold on a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im back here is another question i got wrong Michelle did a survey in four butterfly parks and wrote the following observations: Butterfly Park Survey Park Number of Red Butterflies Total Number of Butterflies A 33 60 B 36 78 C 40 89 D 24 59 Based on the survey, which park had the greatest percentage of red butterflies? Park A Park B Park C Park D i got c can you explain how i got it wrong and how you got the correct answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The percentage is the number of favorable divided by the number seen. For this the best way to solve it is to calculate the percentage for each part. A: 33/60 = 0.55 B:36/78 = 0.462 C: 40/89 = 0.449 D: 24/59 = 0.407 So A has the largest percentage

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do think i got wrong on the question im sorry i keep asking you thth but i guessed on the assignment and my teacher said i need to explain it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I cant be sure without seeing your work. I just happened to make the same mistake as you on the first problem :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Naomi works in a music shop and earns $42 per day. She earns an extra $2 for each CD she sells. If Naomi wants to earn at least $80 per day, which inequality shows the minimum number of CDs, n, that she should sell? 42 + 2n ≤ 80, so n ≤ 19 42 + 2n ≥ 80, so n ≥ 19 42 + 2n ≥ 80, so n ≥ 36 42 + 2n ≤ 80, so n ≤ 36 @LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part 1 is writing an expression for how much money is being made. This is the left side of the equation, and since theyre all the same I'm assuming you understand that part. Step two is setting the inequality. SInce you want to make MORE than $80 per day, you set the inequality so that the expression for how much money you make is greater than the goal of 80. Step 3 is solving for n using your algebra.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know where i went wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Again, not without seeing your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Most likely you either put the inequality the wrong way, or made a calculator error

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A theater company charges $7.50 per ticket for people of all age groups. If c represents the total number of children who bought tickets and a represents the total number of adults who bought tickets, which expression best represents the total money earned by the company from the sale of tickets? 7.5c + a c + 7.5a 15(c + a) 7.5(c + a) @LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would you calculate the amount of money from each age group?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with 7.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so 7.50*c + 7.50*a right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you can factor out the 7.50 using the distributive property

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do i use it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distributive property says A*(B+C) =AB+AC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@LastTrainHome22 i promise this and one more is it please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me with this one and one more i promise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A theater company charges $7.50 per ticket for people of all age groups. If c represents the total number of children who bought tickets and a represents the total number of adults who bought tickets, which expression best represents the total money earned by the company from the sale of tickets? 7.5c + a c + 7.5a 15(c + a) 7.5(c + a) @LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the one we talked about earlier? you get 7.5c + 7.5a , and then factor out the 7.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thts the answer @LastTrainHome22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7.5(a+c)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

last one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The sum of two numbers is 77. The greater number is 5 more than the smaller number. Which equation can be used to solve for the smaller number? x(x − 5) = 77 x(x + 5) = 77 x − (x + 5) = 77 x + (x + 5) = 77

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so it says the SUM of two numbers, so we know we will be adding two numbers together. We know that the second number is equal to the first number + 5, and we know that the two numbers together equal 77

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do i do now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write down the thought in terms of numbers. let x represent the first number. this means the second number is x+5. To get the sum you add the first number to the second, so x+x+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks is there something i could do for you to repay cus i feel bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nah, its fine. Good luck with the rest of your stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
