If y = 100 when x = 120, find x when y = 20.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=24 when y=20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not enough information. You don't have anything to relate x and y.

Determine the Solution

thats all ik

Is there another part to the question, or a graph or table?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its been awhile since i done this and trying to relearn it. nope

How do you know x and y are proportional?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically for every y=10 you have x=12 so if y doubles then so does x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and vice versa

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

because when this kind of conditon come then we use it

My point was that we can't assume a variation. We could just as easily say that y = x - 20, and so x = 40 when y = 20

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

okay
