Trig question: The general solution to sin (x)=0 is x=n(pi). But I thought sin had a cycle of 2(pi), so why isn't the answer x=2pi(n)?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so what's the value of \[\sin(\pi) = ?\] draw the sin curve and you'll see what is happening

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

hint: |dw:1431288925897:dw| what are the y-coordinates of the points A and B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They're both 0. So, it's because sin=0 at pi AND 2pi, so you can add pi and it'll equal 0. I got it now. Thank you!!!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

thank you! :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it periodic in 2pi, since it takes that long to repeat a complete cycle that doesnt preclude that it wont have the same value at some intermediary points.
