Is anyone awake who could help me with some Government questions? I thought I was done but i was wrong. D: I will medal and fan!!!
And in comes the Grey Wardens riding on their Griffons to save the day- I mean...sure. I'll help.
@foreverjennnicole
Haha, you always seem to save the day for me! You're a live saver. :)
Uh, yeah.
One way that state government spending can improve the state's economy is by A. reducing the price of gasoline and other fuels. B. forcing corporations and businesses to increase wages. C. increasing the amount of tax and other revenue. D. providing jobs for regional contractors and workers. This is tricky because there's more than one that could improve the economy...
So is this one a one only or multiple choice?
Because if it's one only, then so I say, not one nor A, I believe it to not be B, yet C it cannot be. What remains?
Sorry, I'm trying to help someone and get help at the same time... lol. You don't have to do anymore if you don't want to. I don't want to keep you up. I have about 10 left that i was unsure of, but you've already been very helpful so I don't want you to feel any pressure :)
It's 8:47 for me. I'm going to be up at least six more hours. I'm juggling four different projects all at once and believe me, this isn't a problem. You can go ahead and ask.
Wow, thank you!! I really do appreciate it a lot. In what way do local governments regulate how land and buildings are used? A. They create zones that designate certain uses for the property. B. They set fees that are too high for certain types of businesses. C. They deny permits to people without connections to city hall. D. They divide the areas into equal plots to allow fair use for everyone.
These four answers contain what they show, yet only one is the one we know. The one we know is the one that's correct, a multiple of two, could it be yet?
You are such a dork. but very creative! x) Are you saying it's B or D?
So the riddle you understand, now grasp at the strands. Two speaks of fees so high, what answer soars with the number four?
Why, equal plots soars with four. If I'm understanding this at all xD
Try the one you see that rhymes with C, yet not B, and certainly not A, I say.
Okay, whew, I was understanding it. Equal plots it is. That was confusing! But thank you :) on to the next question, lol.
What would be the most effective way for a local government to obtain funds for transportation improvements? A. petition the federal government for financial aid B. apply for state grants to pay for the improvements C. encourage citizens to write letters to national newspapers D. organize a local fundraiser to help pay for the improvements Again, I feel like this could be more than one answer
If I were a government, which I am not, I would truly seek to find something I sought. The one I choose to pick is the one we chose last, yet cut in half.
...B?
You have found that which you seek.
Haha, good, because I was thinking B as well.
What is the main reason why local governments encourage the use of mass transportation? A. It helps reduce the price of gasoline. B. It costs much less to maintain than roads. C. It uses less energy per person than automobiles. D. It brings in more business and helps the economy. c?
Yes, no work needed for this one, you have found the one you seek.
:) Which of the following is an example of a state government policy that can change the physical characteristics of a region? A. banning hunters and other sportsmen from using public land B. selling or leasing public land for oil and natural gas exploration C. setting a limit on the number of houses that can be built on public land D. setting aside more undeveloped public land for parks and wildlife preserves
A pattern I see with our answers, all even, of four, what we had last time is the one you look for. *cough* Rhymes with C, yet not D *cough*
xD thank you. just let me know when you get tired of doing this... I still have a bunch and I'm sure you're already sick of me!! :)
One way that state governments have greatly altered the physical characteristics of many areas is by A. providing financial aid to farmers in regions hit by drought. B. giving tax breaks to large corporations relocating to cities. C. financing more social service programs with tax dollars. D. spending large sums of money on flood control projects.
I'll be perfectly fine, this subject is one I practically live for. Also, look to the fourth, so I believe.
The due process provision of the Fourteenth Amendment was written specifically to protect the individual rights of A. former slaves. B. former rebels. C. former citizens. D. former illegal aliens. It was for former slaves, right?
No need to write poetry for this one, it seems, the answer is quite correct, the first is the one you check.
In 2001, President George W. Bush signed the U.S.A. Patriot Act into law. What was one result of this action? A. The president was prevented from wiretapping phone calls. B. Foreign governments could access U.S. intelligence. C. Government agencies could not share U.S. intelligence. D. The federal government could monitor phone calls of more U.S. citizens. i know nothing about this. Lol
Two multiplied by two is four, the fourth contains an answer that sounds like B, yet like C, not like A, none of them I say. What remains?
by revealing that he authorized wiretaps on U.S. citizens after September 11. ... and designed "to detect and prevent terrorist attacks
so not a
Which is basically what I said.
but ur confusing /mybad
lol
I write in poetry to ensure no one comes down on my head for violating the "don't give direct answers" thing.
just give her information about it
I appreciate BOTH of your opinions! Whether in poetry form or information form :)
Here's my next question. What can be concluded about Robert F. Kennedy's view on individual rights based on the selection below? “At the heart of that Western freedom and democracy is the belief thatthe individual man . . . is the touchstone of value, and all society, groups, the state, exist for his benefit. Therefore the enlargementof liberty for individual human beings must be the supreme goal andabiding practice of any western society.” –Robert F. Kennedy, 1966 A. He felt that the individual exists to serve the needs of society. B. He felt that putting the public good first would create individual rights. C. He felt that advancing personal freedoms should be the goal of society. D. He felt that people should sacrifice personal freedoms for the public good.
For one like this, I believe, we should look to the one that seems most likely, to see something not easily found. The second and fourth are not the choices, as is the first. Therefore, the one that remains is our chosen.
The right to freedom of assembly as guaranteed in the First Amendment to the Constitution means that people have the right to A. peacefully assemble at the state capitol, even if they are protesting lawmakers salaries. B. peacefully assemble without a permit, even if they are violating the law. C. gather wherever they want, even if they are violating state laws. D. meet at any time, even if they are breaking local curfew laws. A...?
Perhaps it may be the first, I believe so, the question is, do you?
I was a little unsure, but it's the only one that seems to make sense.
Whose rights must usually be considered first in any conflict between personal interests and the public good? A. the individual's rights B. the community's rights C. the rights of the police D. the rights of the politicians I think this is A too
Yes, it is truly the one you seek, the first.
Awesome :) Which constitutional rights is a suspect in police custody entitled to according to the U.S. Supreme Court decision below? "If the individual indicates, prior to or during questioning, that he wishes to remain silent, the interrogation must cease; if he states that he wants an attorney, the questioning must cease until an attorney is present." –Excerpt from Miranda v. Arizona, decided June 13, 1966 A. the right to reasonable bail and to not receive unusual punishment B. the right to a speedy trial and to confront the witnesses against him C. the right to an impartial jury and to not be tried twice for the same offense D. the right to not incriminate him- or herself and to receive legal counsel if requested
Lying opposite of the first, is the last, the last is what you seek.
I've never even heard of this act.. Critics of the USA PATRIOT Act believe this legislation violates the civil liberties of individuals. Supporters of the legislation argue that it is necessary to enforce the law in order to A. determine the guilt or innocence of criminals. B. protect the goals of our nation's founders. C. support a particular political system. D. maintain the security of our nation.
The last is what you seek.
That's probably what I would've gone with. Which scenario BEST demonstrates the difference between the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the realities of some nations' political systems? A. A person is denied an appeal and sentenced to life in prison. B. A person is convicted of immigration fraud and then deported. C. A person is detained and imprisoned without charges or a trial. D. A person is arrested and tried under martial law by a military court. I found these articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights online... Article 9. No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detentions, or exile. Article 10. Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations of any criminal charge against him. So does that make this C?
Yes, it does.
One of the main sources of revenue for many states is A. a poll tax placed on voter registrations. B. a sales tax placed on goods and services. C. a duty on products exported from the state. D. a tariff on products imported from other states.
The first, the second, the third and fourth, these are all correct. Yet, some are out of date. The one we wish to search for is the last, cut in half.
Great!! I just looked through this 60 question study guide lol and I now see that I answered all the text questions!! There's 10 picture questions and I've already answered 3, so do you mind taking a look at my last ones or are you ready to call it quits?
I'm going to be up another four hours dancing around working to study for three tests and an essay. I could use the entertainment by doing this. So let's go at it!
*cough* I mean, solve it. That probably sounded weird.
Hahahaha... no no, of course not. Get your mind out of the gutter.. geesh. :)
Based on the graph, what can be concluded about federal spending in 2004? A. The funding provided for defense was given mainly to private contractors. B. The Social Security Administration spent more money than it took in. C. The government feels that health and human service benefits are crucial. D. The Treasury Department was the least important agency in the budget.
Well, that was awkward. It's like talking to Alistair. "Have you ever licked a lampost in winter" he says, and I go "Okay...uh, let's have a little chat about the little mage and the templar..."
Okay, moving on...
xD
I see something that rhymes with the second word of this sentence that would be the answer.
Use the graph to answer the following question. It can be concluded that, like many other states, Texas receives a large percentage of its revenue from A. lotto proceeds. B. property taxes. C. state income taxes. D. federal grants. D?
Yes it is, of course.
Based on information in the graph below, what can you conclude about this particular city's priorities? A. The city's main concern is maintaining the safety of the city. B. The city is not interested in using its limited funds for cultural concerns. C. The city's main concern is the maintenance and physical upkeep of the city. D. The city pays the least attention to the importance of a growing economy.
I see it is not D, nor is it B. Surely it cannot be A, so it must be the third one we see.
Which description BEST completes the diagram? A. Essential Civic Responsibilities B. Major Functions of Civil Government C. Recurring Problems in the Public Sector D. Increasing Difficulties in the Private Sector I think it's C or D..
You are close with your answer, search for the first of the ones you chose.
:) Which factor BEST completes the diagram and shows what must be measured when determining the extent of individual rights? A. Public Order B. Political Trends C. Economic Gain D. Historical Examples
The first you must look for, the others do not fit.
LAST ONE! :) What does the abuse of Iraqi detainees by American soldiers in Abu Ghraib prison demonstrate about the principles expressed in the U.S. Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? A. The principles are seldom applied, even in the jails of democratic nations. B. The principles are unrealistic, especially when dealing with terrorists. C. The principles are outdated, especially for use in military situations. D. The principles are not always followed, even by democratic nations.
The opposite of the one we performed last is your answer.
Thank you SO much! I will be well prepared for my exam now. Good luck with your studying.. You're the best! :) :) :)
I take it you're going for a big exam?
And always happy to help!
Yes, the end of course exam is in a couple days, so I needed to get this study guide done so I could begin studying. I couldn't have done it without you :)
Yeah. I have the end of school on the 27th. I'm looking forward to it.
Me too!!! Definitely.
Eleventh grade is a bit hard. Except for history. Oh well. I've gotten one subject out of the way, hopefully I can get the others out soon.
You're in the eleventh grade? Wow... I thought you were studying in college! You're extremely smart.
Well, thank you! I like History a lot so that's why I have most of my answered questions here. Math's my weak spot but I"m working on rectifying that issue. As for college, not yet. I"m looking into something but I haven't actually figured anything out yet. You?
I'm a senior this year. I've thought about going to the community college, but I honestly don't know yet. I might apply for some scholarships at bigger schools or go to a cosmetology school so I can quickly get my beautician license and get a better job. But for now I think I'm going to take a year off just to save up my money and figure out what I want to do.
Community college seems to be a good idea, so I've heard. I'm looking into becoming an optometrist farther down the line. I'd definitely look into a scholarship if I got the chance. So, beautician? I take it you're going to be a fashion person? I don't know much about that kind of thing. As for taking a year off, that sounds like a good idea. I'd do that but I don't know. I mean, in a perfect world I'd have all the time in the galaxy to do nothing but have fun but this world is far from perfect so I just have to work with what I have.
I'm not taking a year off to have fun, I have some legal issues with my family that I have to clear and other things.. I wrecked my car so I need to save up for a new one, etc. So taking the year off just seems like the best suitable option for me. And it's actually not fashion... it's hair and make-up. I've always been good at that girly stuff. I'm not as smart as I'd like to be, so it seems like a pretty good job for me. And you'd make a perfect optometrist with all your smarts. :)
Legal issues...I won't pry if you don't want me to. I'll just respectfully listen if you want to tell about it. As for the car...well, I don't drive, so I'm not going to judge you. Hair/makeup....I know someone who's very into hair. A cousin of mine, fashion-oriented. I'm sure you and her would get along in that aspect. Probably. As for the intelligence, never put yourself down. As Nathan Fillion once said, everyone is a hero in their own way, and that certainly applies here. You've got something you like and you're good at, work with it. I personally wanted to be a historian, or get paid for gaming, but neither seem to be things I could reasonably expect to find in demand out in the world. So that's why I went with the optometrist.
At least, that's things from my perspective.
I completely agree with you. I'm nervous about my chance of really being successful in the world.. but when the time comes, hopefully I'll be able to make it just fine. The legal issue is a long story... and the wreck wasn't my fault. I'd love to talk some time if you'd want to. However, it's 1:13am here in Florida... so I think I'm gonna take off to bed. Thank you so much again for helping me and talking with me. I think you're a pretty awesome person!
Yeah, I'm out in California so it's only 11:14 out down here. I'd love to talk! Later. Relax, I'll follow the rules up on your page, I'm not going to be one of those guys who goes "pics or gtfo" or whatnot (because can you imagine what Leliana would do to me? She'd impale me for that! But you do have a nice time sleeping (it's always great) and whatnot. Have a pleasant night/day! :D
Hahaha I'm not concerned about guys like you. You seem very nice!! Thank you, you too :)
Yeah. Trust me, if we ever met in person, I'd be a genuinely nice person. One who swings his arms around and makes battle sound effects and other things like that but nice anyways. Just a total geek.
I mean, really, I'm probably the only person I know who shouts "For The Grey Wardens" and swings his arms about like a sword making sound effects when no one's around.
But I really should let you go. Goodnight! Let me go? Do humans believe conversation to be a form of imprisonment? This must be why so few are willing to talk. - Quote from Mass Effect
:) Goodnight.
