Which is an expression to find the speed in m/s? d = 40 meters, t = 10 seconds A. 40/10 B. 40x10 C. 10/40 D. 40+10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did a quick research and found this: http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Speed-in-Metres-per-Second What I understood is that V=D/T. Which means A is the right answer

OpenStudy (mrnood):

"per" means "divided by" so metres PER second means mtres divided by seconds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dividing 40 by 10 or 10 by 40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40/10

OpenStudy (mrnood):

like I said so which number is metres? which is seconds? metres divide by seconds

What about this one What is the value of time, t, for the given values of distance, d, and rate, r? d = 315 mi, r = 45 mi/h A. 7 h B. 7 mi C. 14,175 h D. 14,175 mi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The formula for this would be Time = distance ÷ rate(speed). So you need to fill in the speed in meters per second and the time in seconds. You will now have your answer in seconds.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

look at the units: you want to find 'time' (or hours) hours = miles / (miles per hour)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am still not getting it what dose mi/h mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Miles per hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

minutes or hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mi/h means miles per hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so that means that I need to do 315/45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure
