GUYS PLEASEE HELP ME OUT!!! I PLAN TO BE A DOCTOR. CAN YOU ALL PLEASE RECCOMEND SOME GOOD MEDICAL COLLEGES HERE IN THE U.S.? I HAVE NO IDEA...I'LL FAN AND LLIKE
idk do some research online? ask counsellors at school?
MY COUNSELLOR IS A D!CK...SORRY BUT THAT'S THE TRUTH...HE DOESN'T HELP ME OUT
that's unfortunate. You could leave this open, hopefully someone that has looked into this comes along. your best bet at this point, though, is to do some research yourself online.
like what websites should i use?
i really dont know, use google and see what comes up
i just moved here so i don't know, how typical americans select their colleges?
I dont live in the US, so i wouldn't know
to enter a medical school though, you need a bachelors degree first
can u tag someone who can help me out?
i know that
are you in college already?
During my undergraduate I worked with the pre-med advisor for a university where ~70 to 80% of the biology students were pre-meds. Over the 14 years of data I analyzed the school had a ~76% matriculation rate within 2 years of graduating with a BS from it. Please provide more details of yourself using the follow as a guide of information I am interested in: current level of schooling and major (if applicable) current awareness of medical entrance exams if you are a college student: classes to date and in future are you interested in an MD or DO or either is geographical location highly important to you or not (for the location of med school) only if comfortable, how much does cost matter? to apply and to actually go to the school?
@dhirensharma See above, forgot to tag you.
@mrdoldum i am a rising senior in high school i know that after i complete my pre-med i have to take a mcat to get into med collges i am interested in MD/DO and location doesn't matter as long as it's in the U.S. i had to move here because of my parents jobs, so they don't have any prior savings here in the U.S. and the tuition cost is a concern but i'll take a loan of any amount if i get accepted intoa good college, because if i get into a prestigiouss institution, i will be able to pay of the loan when i graduate. THANKS A LLOT
sorry i didn't indicate that i am in high school
a@mrdoldum nd i also apologize for not indicating that i am looking for a good pre-medical college
@dhirensharma I would advice you to find a well-rounded Biology program for your undergraduate. Avoid institutions that have highly specialized pathways, however that is not an absolute. No matter where you do your undergraduate if you work hard and put in effort even a less known University can give you what you need. Don't slouch on the math, physics, and chemistry. I would suggest you take intro physics I and II and at least one semester of organic chemistry. For math, so long has you have trig, stats, and calculus I'd think you would be fine. The MCAT has changed since I last worked on on it, but for MD the average acceptance was 29N and for DO 25N. Check out http://www.amsa.org/ One thing that I cannot stress enough is find a professor, work in the lab, get a project and complete that project. Have something to show at the end of your undergraduate. It does not matter if it is related to medicine, though that is a bonus. The most important thing you want to show med schools is that you are focused, dedicated, and capable of completely something without being forced to. To show them you are self-motivated. Some of the major places: of course Harvard, Stanford, Yale, etc etc. Essentially an Ivy League school University of Iowa university of missouri Northwestern Boston University (most applied to med school) UMKC accelerated MD program (BA/MD) straight from high school to a MD AT Still (DO school) Princeton There are a bunch of places. One other thing you should know is that the average cost of applying to medical school is around $100. Many schools also have things like this, a list of current medical students to talk to: http://www.medicine.uiowa.edu/md/student_talk/ Anything else I can do to help?
@mrdoldum thanks a lot sir, it was an absolute honor to talk to you
i have followed you, so i will get in touch later
Thanks ! Please Close this question If you received satisfactory replies for your queries. Nice to meet You @dhirensharma
@dhirensharma No problem. Oh, I forgot, keep up on non-medicine medical issues. I know a few med students that had questions about insurance and the asked to them by the entrance committee. A very good friend of mine, that also worked on fungi with me in our undergrad, was asked if she thought fungi could get cancer or an equivalent disease. Try to start doing something in the medical field, even if it is just volunteering to help with things like vaccine clinics (registration etc).
one of the best in the nation would probably be duke
