means to mad ratio of that data set 2 thingy
it is just wanting you to divide the means number by the mads number
OpenStudy (narissa):
i divide 4.3 and 1 and then 4.9 by 1.2?
OpenStudy (narissa):
or do i add them first?
OpenStudy (narissa):
is it .73 do u put 4.3/1divided by 4.9/1.2

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking it over
OpenStudy (narissa):
k thanks i got all wrong yesterday by people saying it was this and this my bad for not seeing how they did it
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
does your lesson mention any formulas used to calculate the means-to-MAD ratio?
OpenStudy (narissa):
let me see hold on

do u understand that?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
yes I do. However, I'm not sure why they are subtracting. Can you find another portion of the lesson where it mentions the means-to-MAD ratio?
OpenStudy (narissa):
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
ok I see now, thanks
OpenStudy (narissa):
thats all there is i just dont understand

see attached, specifically the part I'm highlighting in green
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
it tells us to divide the difference in the means (positive difference) by the larger MAD value
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
difference in means = 4.9 - 4.3 = 0.6
Divide this difference by the larger MAD value (1.2) to get 0.6/1.2 = 0.5
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
So the means-to-MAD ratio is 0.5
OpenStudy (narissa):
.5 is the answer
