What is the solution to the equation? 3q + 5 = –2q + 20 A. q = 3 B. q = 5 C. q = 15 D. q = 25

OpenStudy (welshfella):

first add 2q to both sides of the equation what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 and 22

@Kyliejones

@SolomonZelman @sasogeek @sammixboo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

q=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes add 2q to both sides. subtract 5 to both sides. 5q = 15 divide 5 to both sides. the answer is: q = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also whoever just reported me i will find out.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes - plz dont just give the answe @Kyliejones

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And No problem! (:

@Kyliejones No one did a moderator was here the whole time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tagged him for help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm it said a moderator reported me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Kyliejones i guess

OpenStudy (sasogeek):

keep this rule in mind @TheAsker2002 whatever you do the left side of an equation, do same to the right side. you need all the q's on one side, and everything else on the other side to move -2q to the left side, you do -2q+2q which will give you 0 and then since the only thing you did to the right side was +2q, you do same to the left side so 3q+2q now you have 5q use the same principle for the 5, and the rest is easy. just a longer explanation of what @Kyliejones did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right again thanks!

Thanks!
