OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

Find the derivative of f(x) = 5 divided by x at x = -1.

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

5/x at x=-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0 ans

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

?

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

oh nvm i saw my mistake :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

derivative of a constant is zero

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

(5)x^1

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

0 isnt a answer choice ^,^;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

-1x(5)x^-1-1

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

(-5)x^-2

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

(-5)/x^2

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

-5/-1

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

+5?

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yaa

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

thats what i ut but i got the answer rwrong :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can"t understand ur question derivative of a constant is always zero

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

:/

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

i had a question that was like 7/x at x=3

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

and the answer for that question was 7/9

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

and i got it correct

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

but this one ... >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ans will be 5 then

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

the answer is -5

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

i ut 5 that was my mistake

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

(-1)^2=1 not -1

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

thanks for your help anyways :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yaa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry my help was not enough though

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

no, it helped me to realize my mistake :)

if you were not here i probally would not have found out my mistake as fast as i did ^.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (jennyrlz):

np :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

f`(x)= -5/x^2 f`(-1)= -5/(-1)^2 = -5/1=-5
