Choose the correct slope of the line that passes through the points (-4, 8) and (-3, -6). 7 -14 0 14

OpenStudy (hysusonic):

do you know the slope formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it x^1-y^1 over x^2 - y^2??

OpenStudy (hysusonic):

close but it's \[m=\frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2}-x _{1} }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay

OpenStudy (hysusonic):

okay so now you plug in each value so y2=-6 y1=8 x2=-3 x1=-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2/-1

OpenStudy (hysusonic):

how'd you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i plugged everything in and got 6-8 over 3-4 and did the subtraction and got my answer, Is it wrong?

OpenStudy (hysusonic):

yea because it's not positive 6 it's -6 it's not positive 3 it's -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i forgot to add in the negatives let me re do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so its -6-8 over -3-4 giving me -14/-7

OpenStudy (hysusonic):

yea but something seems off

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean?

OpenStudy (hysusonic):

if you divide them, you get 2 which isn't an answer choice
