OpenStudy (tiff9702):

Which figure must be a square? A. a quadrilateral with congruent sides B. a quadrilateral with four right angles C. a parallelogram with four congruent sides D. a rhombus with four right angles

OpenStudy (vianne):

Thankyou. :) Now @tiff9702 can you tell me what you think the answer is? :D

OpenStudy (tiff9702):

i don't know that is why i asked

OpenStudy (vianne):

2 Are wrong, (obviously) and so can you tell me what those 2 are?

OpenStudy (tiff9702):

A and D

OpenStudy (vianne):

Well, ok! There's another one. :P

OpenStudy (tiff9702):

C i think

OpenStudy (vianne):

Yes! Now, do you know why those are wrong?

OpenStudy (tiff9702):

no

OpenStudy (vianne):

A - The congruent sides on the square could be like a rhombus side. B - A square needs 4 right angle sides (90degrees). C - A parallelogram isn't really counted as a square because it's sorta like a rectangle and the sides aren't 90 degrees or even in length/height/width. D - A rhombus is always a rhombus. A square is always a square. A rhombus may have 90 degree angles, but it's not going to define a square. Otherwise, if a rhombus was shaped like a square, then why would we be calling it a rhombus if we could call it a square?

OpenStudy (vianne):

Is that clear or confusing? :P

OpenStudy (tiff9702):

so B

OpenStudy (vianne):

Yep!
