In the first example, you will pretend to be going to the movies with your mom, dad, or guardian. In the second example, you will pretend to be in the market for a new cell phone plan. Use your imagination and have fun.

Do you have the examples?

Examples: welcome to celltopia! You're in the market for a new phone plan and have a budget of $50 per month. The best cell phone plan they offer has a monthly rate of $45 for unlimited minutes plus $0.05 per text message. Before you commit, translate this plan into an algebraic expression to see if you send 100 messages each month. The plan costs $45 plus $0.05 per text message. Write what you know. The plan costs 45 dollars plus 5 cents, or 0.05 dollars, per text message. Step2: highlight key words and define your variable. The word plus indicates addition. The word per indicates multiplication. And, the words text message indicate a variable. Since you don't know the number of text messages that you will send in a month, replace text messages with a variable like m. Step3: translate. 45 plus 0.05 times m. Step4: is the plan going to work if you sent 100 text messages each month? 45 plus 0.05 times m is the expression for the cost of the plan. Substitute 100 for m to see if the plan remains within your 50 dollar budget. 45 plus 0.05 times 100 equals 45 plus 5, which equals exactly 50 dollars. This is the perfect plan for your needs.
