Rotate triangle with vertices (-1,1), (2,4), and (4,2) by 180 degrees. How do you do this?

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Rule: Rotate any point (x,y) 180 degrees and it will land on (-x,-y) example: take (2,1) and rotate it 180 degrees. it will become (-2,-1)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Side note: if P is the original point, and Q is the new point after you rotate the point 180 degrees around the origin, then the line PQ will go through the origin (0,0)

Thank you! So it would be (1,-1), (-2, 4), and (-4, -2)?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

(2,4) becomes (-2,-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

** (-2, -4)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

good catch

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes you have it correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :)
