not sure how to solve, need quick help!
@peachpi would you be able to explain this one?
cosB = 4/5, which is also equal to a/c. a = 10, so we know that c = 12.5
okay that makes sense. do you use pythagorean theorem for this problem? i just cant remember how to do these
Not directly, in this case, but you might need it for another similar problem. For example, if they gave you sinB, you would need to use the pythagorean theorem to find c.
ohh okay. so then what about this one? we are given B and C
Yes, in this case you would use a^2 + b^2 = c^2 to find a. Then, you find tanA by using the formula tanA = a/b
hmm okay so when you square them does that just cancel the square root?
Yes, pretty much
a^2=7+11--> a^2=18? am i on the right track somewhat hah
Not quite, check your signs
oh my bad. a^2+7=11 then subtract 7 from both sides, a^2=4
then square root 4 and a=2
yup! everything from then on is very straightforward!
ah wait, so now do i just take opp/adj?
yup
hmm wait wouldnt that make it sqrt11/sqrt7? why am i confused haha this should be simple
what do you do with the a that we just solved? does that have to do something?
ohhh, i think im looking at it incorrectly..
is it A? although im not sure how it could be...i think im lost hah
Yes! Remember that 2/root(7) can be rewritten as 2*root(7)/7
ohh yeah to sort of cancel out right?
